Just a note to tell of Penny's and my thanks for the time you've spent not only with the Ambrican hounds that you have completed championships on but also those that have been in your custody when helping us to either train or transfer hounds. You always take great care of our hounds and they all seem to bond with you from day one.
As a past breeder/exhibitor before becoming a professional handler and elative to other similarly-qualified individuals your key relationships within the dog show industry through past kennel club positions and years of breeder and judge contacts provide you with a unique opportunity to be of benefit to your clients and their hounds."R. Dear Danny,
Just a note to congratulate you on your website. I have known you for at least thirty years and have seen you successfully exhibit many good dogs over the years. You have also shown quite a few of my basset hounds for me and there is no question that they were treated well while under your care. They were always happy and there was no question that they loved you - which only shows me that you were good to them while they were in your care. I wish you many more winners and a successful future. I hope to see you down the line soon.Joan Urban
Fort Merrill Bassets
I would like everyone to know how pleased I have been with the care, handling, presentation and professionalism Dan Jones has demonstrated with my basset hounds. Last year, Dan began handling for me, and the experiences I have had with his work could not be more satisfactory. To date, he has shown two of my dogs to their championships, and he currently has three of my pups in boot camp.
Dan has built a very nice facility in his home where the dogs are housed. They have access to a huge yard for play and exercise. Dan and Stacey take the dogs on regular outings for socialization and play with them endlessly when at home. They are kept entertained, well groomed, healthy and happy. In other words, the dogs reside in a totally loving environment when they are with Dan.
Dan is a seasoned professional handler and devotee of the basset hound breed. He is well known and respected in basset and all-breed show circles. With his experience, he provides beautiful presentation of his exhibits. Additionally, Dan is a good sport and always conducts himself professionally in and out of the ring. Therefore, you can always be proud of your association with him.Obviously, I have the highest regards for Dan and his work. If you would like any further information from me, please feel free to contact me.Carol Hunt

The fact that Dan is certainly no novice to the conformation ring is readily apparent as one observes his skills. He has the ability to quickly assess the temperament, personality, strengths and weaknesses of an animal in order to bring out the best in the dog and show it to its full potential.
He gives generous one-on-one attention to each and every dog and exercises a patient persistence which elicits a positive response from the animals that he trains and exhibits. Dan practices a "dogs come first" credo. The health, well being and comfort of the animals in his charge are always foremost.
On occasion, I have observed feeding time in Dan’s kennel and watching him is not unlike watching a sous chef. Each bowl is a separate formulation—different quantity, different food, different combinations, supplements, additives, etc.—depending upon the needs of each dog. Furthermore each dog is fed in an individual environment—definitely no community feeding.
When traveling and showing Dan maintains a strict watchfulness and level of care with the animals. He brings a healthy, happy, well conditioned and well groomed animal in to the ring, and exhibits the dog with total professionalism and skill.Kathleen Andrews
I can heartily recommend Dan as a trainer/handler of basset hounds. Dan finished my dog CH Wagtails Johnny Cash, CD. He put two majors and some single points on Cash within six months. Dan groom and trains dogs daily and has a wonderful rapport with the dogs in his charge. When we see Dan at shows, my Cash always greets him enthusiastically as a much missed friend.

I have been a friend and client of Danny Jones since I started raising and showing basset hounds 26 years ago. Danny has always been very fair and accommodating in all of my dealings with him. He has many years of experience with showing, handling and breeding bassets. Not only is Danny technically proficient but his genuine affection for dogs in general is evident. I highly recommend Danny as a handler.

My wife and I are brand new to the dog show world so I felt the need to add that Danny is willing to work with new people. The thing I admire most about Danny is that he doesn't hesitate to be honest and up front with people about a dog's chances of winning. There are people out there who will string clients along just to get their monthly boarding fees, but not Danny. If you're new to the basset world like we are, Danny is the only way to go; he is the only one I want handling my dogs.

Dear Dan,
I was just sitting with Chablis feeding her pups thinking back on when I met you that December day at Winston-Salem, NC. Because you already had a bitch to handle, I was going to have to show her in the Winners’ class, but you would take over totally beginning the next day. Well, the next day, you exhibited her to a 3-point major, and as we know, from there it was a quick trip to her becoming Ch. Tri-M’s Ol’South’s Lady Chablis. I couldn’t have been more pleased with how you treated my new girl and me.
Throughout our handling contract, I couldn’t have been more pleased with how you would keep me informed and make the suggestions of which shows we should or should not enter. It wasn’t to just enter everything, because you knew which judges would or would not like her type. When I am putting out hard-earned funds to someone to do something for me, I really appreciate how they spend that money.Thank you, Danny, for being a considerate and caring handler, and someone I now consider to be a friend as well.
